Steven Spielberg is one of the most talented and popular movie directors to this day. He has had numerous box-office hits and award winning movies that everyone loves. Here are my top 5 favourite Steven Spielberg’s movies:

5.   Jaws

Release date: June 20, 1975

As the poster already says it, this movie is a thrilling and terrifying motion picture that is going to keep you at the edge of the seat from the beginning till the end.

4.   Jurassic Park

Release date: June 9, 1993

Much like Jaws, Jurassic Park is a thrilling movie that has both a well told story and amazing CGI scenes with dinosaurs. If you like dinosaurs you will probably like this movie too.

3.   E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Release date: June 10, 1982

In comparison to Jaws and Jurassic Park this movie is more directed towards kids. It doesn’t have human-eating sharks or dinosaurs but an alien that was abandoned by its kind a boy who wants to help the alien.

2.   Saving Private Ryan

Release date: July 24, 1998

Saving Private Ryan has one of the best opening scenes in the history of all movies. It’s an amazing film that properly explains the hell that people go through because of war. If you are looking for new movies to watch I really recommend this one.

1.   Schindler’s List

Release date: November 30, 1993

This is one of my favourite movies of all time. The story is about Oskar Schindler, a German Nazi, who after seeing the horrors of Polish concentration camps has a change of heart and tries to help his Jewish employees. This movie has a bit heavier theme than most of Steven Spielberg’s movies, but it’s still an amazing movie that everyone has to watch at least once in their life.

 

The movie “2001: A Space Odyssey” came out in the year 1968. It is a sci-fi film which was directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick. It’s based on Arthur C. Clarke‘s short story “The Sentinel” which was published in 1951. The script was written by both Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke.

The film depicts the journey into the unknown in search of extraterrestrial life. The crew is made up of 5 humans, three of which were sleeping during the trip and a HAL 9000 robot.

The soundtrack has used many of the classical songs that compliment the scenes amazingly well, such as Johann Strauss II‘s 1866 Blue Danube Waltz, Richard Strauss‘ symphonic poem Also sprach Zarathustra György Ligeti’s Atmosphères and the works of Aram Khachaturian 

I know that when you write a review about anything you have to say the good and the bad stuff, and I have tried to find something I didn’t like about the movie, but I just couldn’t. To me everything about it is perfect, from the story, the directing to the soundtrack. Everything is amazing and goes so well together. I think “2001: A Space Odyssey” is one of the, if not the best movie of all time. While watching the movie you will find you eyes glued to the screen unable to look away and after you see it you will never be able to stop thinking about it.

Tim Burton‘s movies are often perceived as weird, creepy and scary and most of the time they are, but I just love them for it. Here’s my top 5 favourite Tim Burton’s movies:

5.   Frankenweenie

Description: Victor invites trouble when he revives his dead pet dog Sparky after it is hit by a car. Now, Sparky looks like a monster and terrifies Victor’s neighbours.

4.   Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Release date: July 10, 2005

Description: Charlie, a young boy from an impoverished family, and four other kids win a tour of an amazing chocolate factory run by an imaginative chocolatier, Willy Wonka, and his staff of Oompa-Loompas.

3.   Dark Shadows

Release date: ‎May 11, 2012

Description: Rich playboy Barnabas earns the wrath of Angelique, a witch, when he breaks her heart. She turns him into a vampire and buries him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas escapes to settle scores.

2.   Sleepy Hollow

Release date: November 17, 1999

Description: Ichabod Crane, a police detective, is sent from the city of New York to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of murders committed by the Headless Horseman.

Description: Edward, a synthetic man with scissor hands, is taken in by Peg, a kindly Avon lady, after the passing of his inventor. Things take a turn for the worse when he is blamed for a crime he did not commit.

Description: In the 14th century, the harmony that humans, animals and gods have enjoyed begins to crumble. In his travels, he sees humans ravaging the earth, bringing down the wrath of wolf god Moro and his human companion Princess Mononoke. Hisk attempts to broker peace between her and the humans brings only conflict.

Description: In this anime feature, 13-year-old Kiki moves to a seaside town with her talking cat, Jiji, to spend a year alone, in accordance with her village’s tradition for witches in training. But when the insecure young witch begins questioning herself and loses her magic abilities, she must overcome her self-doubt to get her powers back.

Now Howl must use all his magical talents to battle the jealous hag and return Sophie to her former youth and beauty.

I think that Ridley Scott is a good start for this list. He’s made so many amazing movies that prove that he is one of the best movie directors ever.

Quentin Tarantino is famous for his genius scripts, but the script isn’t the only amazing thing about his movies. The directing and the soundtracks in his movies made him one of the best directors ever.

Alfred Hitchcock is a revolutionary director. He is one of the most influential and extensively studied filmmakers in the history of cinema.

2.   Steven Spielberg

I love Steven Spielberg because his movies can be enjoyed by both the kids and the adults. If you want to watch a movie with your family I strongly recommend his movies.

Without a doubt Stanley Kubrick is my favourite movie director. Everything about the movies he made is perfect, from the directing and acting to the music and costimography. As far as I’m concerned he’s the best movie director ever.
